Paul Filipowicz (born March 24, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois) is an American Chicago blues singer, guitarist, harmonica player, and songwriter whose career spans more than four decades. He is known for his raw, West Side‑influenced blues style and fiery live performances.
Filipowicz grew up in nearby Lockport, Illinois, where he was exposed to blues music at an early age through radio and a life‑changing live performance by Otis Rush. Self‑taught and deeply rooted in the Chicago blues tradition, he learned to play harmonica first and later guitar by ear, drawing inspiration from legends like Magic Sam, Freddie King, Luther Allison, and Hound Dog Taylor.
Over the years, Paul has fronted his own band, toured extensively across the United States, and released numerous critically acclaimed albums, including *What Have You Done for Me Lately* (1999), *Saints & Sinners* (2013), *Unfiltered* (2018), and *Pier 43* (2022). His work has earned him a place in the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame.
Based in Wisconsin, Filipowicz continues to perform at roadhouses, festivals, and blues clubs, bringing his heartfelt, hard‑driving blues to audiences nationwide.
